Where a quick approval is realistic

At Clarkson, speed depends on paperwork as much as on people. A site whose contract with Clarkson is already in force spares you the slowest step, because a fresh affiliation agreement can take the College up to two months. With a short calendar, ask every candidate site first whether Clarkson students have trained there recently.

Fit matters just as much, because a preceptor who fails review costs you another round. The quickest yes comes from someone who already meets every rule for your course: licensed where you will train, two or more years in practice, the right provider type for your track, and not a relative. If the term slips anyway

Sometimes the honest answer is next term. Clarkson's 2021-22 handbook says a student who cannot meet a course's time frame after a preceptor falls through should drop the course once course faculty and the Graduate Nursing advisor have been consulted. An incomplete is possible only for a passing student with hours left, at the discretion of faculty and the program director, and a leave of absence covers one semester.

Can I register without the agreement if my preceptor backed out?

Clarkson's 2021-22 handbook let a student register without a finished agreement after an unavoidable preceptor change, its example being a preceptor who turns the student away. You then owe course faculty a prompt update, need a replacement quickly, and can count hours with that replacement only once the new agreement is done.

How quickly can you find a Clarkson preceptor?

It depends on your course, your location and how much paperwork the site needs, so you get a realistic read at intake instead of a stock answer. Short-notice searches get daily outreach and priority on sites that already hold a Clarkson agreement, which removes the longest wait.

Is it too late to apply to Nebraska Medicine for spring 2027?

Its spring NP window runs Sept. 1 to Oct. 1, 2026, and Nebraska Medicine asks for a month or more to work through each application. After Oct. 1, 2026 the next window is Jan. 1 to Feb. 1, 2027, which is for summer; for spring, independent practices are the faster route.

My site needs a new affiliation agreement. Will it be ready in time?

Clarkson's instructions say the College may need up to two months for a new affiliation agreement. If your course starts sooner than that, ask the Compliance office for a realistic timeline and look in parallel for a site that already has an agreement with Clarkson.
