Clarkson nursing programs, hour by hour
Clarkson College's 2026-27 catalog sets every MSN nurse practitioner track at 750 clinical hours in five courses, and the BSN to DNP versions of the same tracks at 975. The Education and Administration practicums carry 150 each, and nurse anesthesia needs at least 2,000. The table lays the figures side by side; each program guide then covers its courses, preceptors and timing.

What the numbers leave out
The NP totals count direct patient care with an approved preceptor, one course at a time, starting with NRS 830 after the on-campus Graduate Weekend. Two figures on the list differ between Clarkson's own pages, the practicum hours and the post-graduate DNP hours, and the clinical hours guide shows both versions.
Nurse anesthesia is the one graduate program where Clarkson assigns the clinical sites; everywhere else the preceptor search is the student's, which is where our desk comes in.

Which Clarkson nursing programs need a preceptor?
Every graduate track with clinical or practicum hours: the three MSN NP tracks, the matching certificates and BSN to DNP tracks, and the Education and Administration practicums. DNP students also choose a project mentor. Nurse anesthesia residents train at sites Clarkson assigns.
Does a post-graduate certificate need all 750 hours?
The certificate options use the same NRS clinical courses as the MSN, and Clarkson's course pages list only MSN and DNP hour figures, so plan for the MSN hours. Clarkson publishes no separate gap analysis for certified NPs; ask your Graduate Nursing advisor.
Are Clarkson's graduate nursing programs online?
Yes, apart from one Graduate Weekend in Omaha for NP students with NRS 830 and the on-campus year of nurse anesthesia. Clinicals happen near home, in a state where Clarkson's workbook says graduate nursing meets requirements.
How long does Clarkson allow to finish?
Seven years for every program, counting any leave of absence. The MSN runs seven to nine semesters full time, and because only one clinical course can run at a time, a missed preceptor pushes the whole sequence back.
